Mombasa Kenya History and Geography

Here is an interesting post at Free Republic about the governmental jurisdictions controlling Mombasa over the years. Mombasa is now part of the country of Kenya. It is reported and alleged by various source including newspapers in Kenya that Obama was born in Kenya. In 1961, when it is alleged that Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya, it was not a separate country yet. It was part of the British Protectorate of East Africa, and was not part of Zanzibar as the Obots claim online in blogs to confuse issues. In 1961 what is now Kenya and what is now Zanzibar were both part of the British Protectorate of East Africa. Read the post at Free Republic for more details. Also, links are provided there to some neat historical maps.

1960 National Geographic's Map of Africa. You can zoom in on the East Africa region and see that the area called Kenya is still listed as a protectorate of the U.K.

Mario --

Your readers will want to read this article, written in September, 2007, BEFORE any of the present disputes, discussing just how convoluted the history of the 10 mile strip really was.

[Note the title "Protectorate of the Coast," which conforms almost EXACTLY with the L. Smith alleged Kenyan Birth Certificate (which I still consider bogus, largely because no one has yet been able to confirm the name of the Supervisor of Obstetrics. Why? Because an Obstetrician would be too IMPORTANT a doctor NOT to appear on ANY available registry.]

'Mr Ahmed Issack Hassan, who served in the defunct Constitution of Kenya Review Commission, says: “During the last years of the independence struggle and at the start of the Lancaster House Constitutional talks in 1961, the status and fate of the coastal strip came up for determination. The British organised separate talks for the delegates from the Protectorate of the Coast and those from the Kenya Colony. The British Government and Sultan of Zanzibar also appointed a commissioner, James R Robertson, to study the issue of the coastal strip, consult all those concerned and report to them.”

In his report, “The Kenya Coastal Strip-Report by the Commissioner,” Robertson, reported that opinion was divided as to whether the coastal strip should join Kenya, be declared independent, or reverted back to the Sultan of Zanzibar. He recommended that it should be joined with Kenya subject to the Kenya Government guaranteeing to respect the existence of the Kadhi’s Courts, among other conditions.

[Also, note this summary paragraph]

An analogy with Hong Kong is appropriate. As long as Hong Kong's LEASE was in effect, Hong Kong was considered British --

All facts are friendly!

Great maps!!!

They help show (along with the article linked by Bob and cfkerchner) just how screwed up most things in Africa were at the time.

That seems to carry over into Obama's personal history as well.

YouTube video showing a 5 year old African newspaper story back in 2004 saying Obama was born in Kenya. This has been known by folks in Africa for over 5 years. Why is the American news media covering this up now and saying its only a recent conspiracy against Obama because people don't like that he won the election. What about constitutional eligibility and the requirement to be a natural born citizen of the USA per Article II. The media has blinders on purposely, imo. The truth was known in Africa 5 years ago.

Read the article and hear the explanation of how this 5 year old news story was found by a volunteer researcher despite massive scrubbing efforts by Obama and his friends and allies in the inside of the media at AP and in the inside at Google:
